eating thru archives & cultivating new worlds

ANOTHER WORLD IS HERE.

Welcome to Village X, a community rooted in Black archives, foodways and freedom. Our work engages Black culinary traditions as technologies, using food and land as a lens to examine survival, care, liberation and cultural preservation.

ZINE LIBRARY

READ THE LATEST

Since 2020, our ten-volume zine series, Village X Magazine, has published recipes, short stories, gardening advice, research and more from our contributors. Each meditative volume is immersed in a specific technology of freedom - water, protection, land, pleasure, rhythm, ancestors, rest, intention, work, and choice. Contributors experiemented with how we might use these techologies to achieve food sovereignty, to deepen our connection to all life, and to thrive against all odds.

Now digitized and available for purchase! Browse and add volumes to your cart below.
