Today it is rare to find someone resting. There simply is too much work to be done. Gone are bedrooms, bathtubs, and nights where only your pulse hammers out against the rich black. Most folks work a day job and a night job and no longer use rest to recharge their bodies — oh, farmers made that obsolete decades ago. Superfoods have reduced the need for sleep each night drastically, stimulating an economy where humans can work ceaselessly. And while many do, some resist.

This volume features writing from the front lines of grind culture, contemplations of our persistent ability to dream, and foods designed to knock us out.
